The New U of H Stadium Comes With A New Name & New Brand

Oct 14, 2014 | Business Signs

On August 29th, TDECU Stadium officially opened its doors for the first game against UTSA. TDECU is the largest credit union in Houston, the fourth largest city in the country, so it was only fitting that they were part of the largest-ever naming rights deal for a college football stadium. For the privilege of being the stadiums namesake and exclusive access to a luxurious suite on the 50-yard line, the price tag was 15 million. TDECU will retain those privileges for a term of 10 years. The cost of the new stadium was no small sum either. At 120 million for the new stadiums’ total cost, the University of Houston certainly has a new landmark to be proud of. With this new landmark comes a new brand identity for the stadium.  Bakers’ Signs was the fortunate sign company to be chosen to install all of the signage reflecting this new

identity. In conjunction with ArtOGrafx and Signtex Imaging, Bakers’ Signs installed ten 12’ channel letters, fourteen 5’ channel letters and a total of 58 banners. It was a considerable project requiring multiple crane trucks, lifts and installation crews to put up the 35,783 total square feet of printed banners. Bakers’ Signs & Manufacturing is one of the largest commercial sign companies in the Houston area as well as one of the largest in Texas. Though the University of Houston’s stadium re-branding was considerable project, 30 years in the sign industry equips you to take on a project of nearly any size and scale. Thanks to all of the professional and experienced contractors involved, Houston certainly has a stadium that will be admired and appreciated for years to come.
